Description

The definitive untold story of the Chevrolet, 1 1/2 ton 4x4 truck, aka G506 of WW2.

This book is the result of over seven years and thousands of hours of research across the United States, from the National Archives to the archives of General Motors, the Air Force Museum, countless private collectors and more.

The book is organized into chapters beginning with the development of the vehicle from draft U.S. Army specifications to the first contract. Includes many factory photographs of production and newly accepted vehicles. Subsequent chapters cover each variant of the vehicle in depth: long and short wheelbase, dump trucks, telephone maintenance, panel trucks, bomb service, fire, cab over engine and more.

Over 600 high resolution pictures including many never before seen images from the GM archives and private collections. Almost all of the photographs are either full page (8x10) or half page with captions. The printing is of the finest quality on glossy paper.

Includes a 20+ page appendix/chart with production details including variants by year, registration numbers & contract and more.
